Skoda Superb

The Czech company remakes the third generation of its flagship, mid-life. This is an opportunity for the Skoda Superb to inaugurate a rechargeable hybrid powertrain. A first for the brand.

Sto celebrate the introduction of this new virtuous engine, the Skoda Superb has a new terminology called iV, which is expected to become widespread in the future PHEV models of the manufacturer. On the program: a 156-hp 1.4 TSI petrol unit, supported by an electric motor with a power equivalent to 116 hp. The combination has 160 kW, or about 218 hp for 400 Nm of torque, and combines with a 6-speed DSG automatic transmission.

With a battery of 13 kWh, it promises 55 km of autonomy in "all-electric" on the WLTP homologation cycle, while its total autonomy is 850 km. On a wall box delivering 3.6 kW, the Skoda Superb iV can be recharged in 3:30, via the socket located in its dummy grille.

Unfortunately, the implementation of the lithium-ion battery in front of the rear axle strikes the capacity of the trunk. The Skoda Superb iV sedan loses 140 l capacity (485 l), against 150 l on the Combi break (510 l). Same penalty for the fuel tank that now displays 50 l (-16 l)
